Week of
the white rose
On the 25th anniversary of the tragic events of December 6, 1989, Polytechnique Montréal launched the Polytechnique Montréal Week of the White Rose. This fundraiser takes place every year in the first week of December. Although Polytechnique is indelibly scarred by these events, it has never given in and has moved forward, taking positive action that holds promise for the future.
During this Canada-wide fundraising campaign, Polytechnique is inviting its professors, staff members, students, retired employees, alumni and the general public to make a donation by purchasing virtual white roses. Over the years, the white rose has become a symbol of remembrance for Polytechnique. All proceeds go to Folie Technique, Polytechnique’s science camp, with the aim of giving girls from disadvantaged communities the opportunity to take part in science awareness activities (summer science camps, Club 100 % filles, activities for groups of school girls).
The Week of the White Rose website will be accessible for online donations year round. The Fondation et Alumni de Polytechnique Montréal will issue income tax receipts upon request.
